Register today for the next Pittsburgh Citizen’s Police Academy

Are you looking for an opportunity to better your understanding of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police? Have you ever wondered how police officers are trained to serve our communities? If either of these questions have ever crossed your mind, participating in the Pittsburgh Citizen’s Police Academy may be the perfect opportunity for you.

Twice a year, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police sponsors an opportunity for members of the community to become more closely acquainted with the roles and responsibilities of the Police Bureau through their Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA). The CPA teaches the basics of criminal law, search and seizure, patrol tactics, firearms, and many other subjects. Participants of this 15-week course also have an opportunity to meet and talk with street officers as well as command and training staff.

The next session of the CPA will begin on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. The class is a 15-week Wednesday evening course that is conducted from 6:00pm-9:00pm. The location of the course is The Sarah Heinz House (One Heinz St., Pittsburgh, 15212).

The class size is limited to 30 participants, so do not delay if you are interested in learning more. All interested persons must complete this application and grant permission for the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police to conduct a background check. All applications must be returned by September 9, 2017. If you have further questions, please contact Sgt. Eric Kroll at eric.kroll@pittsburghpa.gov.
