PIIN Marches Alongside Thousands of Teachers to Demand Public Education Funding

On Saturday, July 14, PIIN joined thousands of American Federation of Teachers (AFT) union members to rally and march in support of public education funding in downtown Pittsburgh.

While the Trump Administration cuts taxes on billionaires and big corporations, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos wants to slash education spending by over $9 billion. Instead of fighting to defend public education, Secretary DeVos has called it “a dead end” and has funneled millions into school privatization and charters. Our students deserve better.

Together, Pittsburgh sent a clear message: it’s time for Congress and the Trump Administration to fund public schools and ensure that all of our children receive an excellent public education in well-resourced, thriving schools. Thank you to all who were able to join us!
