PIIN co-hosts Imagine PPS session with the Pittsburgh Pubic Schools (PPS)

Board Directors Veronica Edwards and Pam Harbin engage with community stakeholders during Imagine PPS session.

On Thursday, February 6, more than sixty community stakeholders joined PIIN and the leaders and staff of Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS) for an Imagine PPS engagement session held at Pittsburgh King PreK-8. Imagine PPS is a new city-wide initiative working together with community champions to re-imagine how the school district delivers education.

During the session community stakeholders weighed in on topics such as “Homemade” Healthy Meals, Mental Health & Trauma Informed Care, Arts & Athletics programming and how to better serve children with exceptionalities. The conversation also focused on improving underperforming high schools and evaluating the skills and attributes our children need to be ready for life after graduation.

The session was joined by PPS School Board Directors Kevin Carter, Veronica Edwards, Devon Taliaferro, and Pam Harbin. Also, present was Pittsburgh City Councilman Bobby Wilson.

PIIN, who has long championed support for our public schools, was happy to co-host the event with PPS. We look forward to working together to eliminate racial disparities and raising the achievement level of all of our students.
