The Pennsylvania Interfaith Impact Network (PIIN) has released the following statement regarding the plot to bomb the Legacy International Worship Center in Pittsburgh:

The Pennsylvania Interfaith Impact Network (PIIN) condemns the hate that perpetuate cycles of violence in our society. We are grateful that this attack was thwarted before it could be carried out however, it exposes the levels of hate that exist within our society.

PIIN is committed to justice and ensuring that all of our communities are free from violence in any form particularly within our places of worship. This event is just another reminder of the depth of the hate that continues to plague our nation– a plague from which no one is immune. We are reminded, at times like this, of why we need to engage and remain in intentional and honest conversations about violence. We call upon all people of faith across the Pittsburgh region as well as the rest of the nation to stand together as one.

We refuse to allow violence to frame our narrative or our place in this country. We will continue to encourage relationship building among all people of good will. We are reminded of the words Rev. Dr. King spoke “Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.” With that we ask that people of all faiths take a moment to reflect and pray for love, peace, and justice.
