Assisting ratepayers

On Oct. 27, the Alcosan board voted to establish a customer assistance program (CAP) for residents who are unable to pay their rising sewer bills. The Pittsburgh Interfaith Impact Network commends Alcosan for taking these positive steps to help low-income ratepayers have access to clean water for their families.

A big win for affordable green infrastructure solutions

PIIN’s Ratepayer Justice Task Force has worked closely with The Clean Rivers Campaign to ensure that ALCOSAN ratepayers– especially low-income residents– aren’t stuck footing water bills they cannot afford as part of ALCOSAN’s $2 billion system upgrades. On October 27th, the board of the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority awarded a contract to Dollar Energy Fund Inc. to administer the customer assistance program we’ve long advocated for.
